Labor Unions Should Focus on Productivity
The problem with the old business model for labor unions is that it dealt with a finite pie. The unions wanted more of the current dollar for their members. Today the key is to focus on making the pie bigger thus creating a win/win for the employees and the business. This type of thinking in the Great Depression lead to the creation of gainsharing programs where the employees could automatically increase their income in accordance with productivity increases. This is still a great idea and also adds value to the business and the enonomy in general.
